JOIN IN THE EFFORT TO MEMORIALIZE ROBERT BURNHAM JR.
Be a part of history as we come together to honor a man who honored the
love of the nighttime sky. With the generous help of the East Valley
Astronomy Club in Arizona, we now have a nonprofit fund set up to take
donations as we raise money for a memorial at Lowell Observatory.
With the guidance of Burnham's living sister, Viola Courtney, and her
daughter, Donna Cox, a group of Burnham admirers is coming together to
make the memorial a reality. Earlier this year, Lowell Observatory gave
its thumbs up to the concept of a memorial, and in the last couple of
months Tom and Jennifer Polakis worked painstakingly with EVAC to
create the nonprofit fund. Now it's the fundraising committee's turn to
kick this effort into high gear. The honorary chairman of our
fundraising drive is none other than the Star Gazer himself, PBS
personality Jack Horkheimer of the Miami Science Museum.
Be like Jack and make out a check to "Burnham Memorial Fund" and mail your tax-deductible donation to:
